In 2008, three historic trail loops will begin in Clan Gregor Square, the heart of Bayfield. As you stand in the park, try to imagine the many dozens of fully loaded grain wagons that used a road through the park on their way to the harbour, Grist Mill or Main Street, the baseball games against Varna and Clinton, the skating rink, the cows grazing. Envision the excitement as villagers burned Kaiser Wilhelm in effigy during the first World War or when the entire village gathered to see the Prime Minister. This is where the villagers have always come together to celebrate, to mourn and to take comfort in Bayfield’s community spirit.
